SUMMER IS HERE!!!

Now that the hot, sunny weather is finally here your pool will need a lot more maintenance than in the cooler weather over the last few months.  It is important to ensure that your swimming pool is chemically balanced, that your swimming pool pump runs for long enough, and that you regularly backwash your filter and clean your electrode (if you have a standard salt water chlorinator).  It is also important to ensure that the salt levels in your pool are in the optimal range for your specific chlorinator as different brands/makes run at different salt levels.

Is you swimming pool not clearing, but the chemical balances are good and within optimal range?

Consider when last you had a sand change.  There are different grades of sand used in a swimming pool filter, and depending on which grade of sand you have, the sand can last between 2 to 5 years.  This also depends on environmental factors (foliage around the pool, thatching if you have a thatch roof, dog hair if your pets swim, irregular backwashing, etc).   Over time the sand also simply wears down and becomes ineffective at filtering the water.  Once the sand and filtration is compromised, it does not matter what chemicals you put into the swimming pool - they may be ineffective.
